Glimmerglass Introduces New 16 Port Fiber Connection Management System; Company Also Announces Partnerships With Four USA-Resellers

Posted on: Tuesday, 12 October 2004, 06:00 CDT

Glimmerglass, pioneer of fiber connection management systems, announced today its new System 100 - a 16 by 16 port fiber switch packaged in a rack-mountable 2 RU chassis. The company also announced agreements with four USA-based sales firms to better serve the growing demand for optical networking and fiber management connection solutions.

Glimmerglass' new System 100 model delivers superior optical performance in a smaller, affordable package. Operating as a fully automated fiber management connection system, the System 100 enables the automated re-cabling of all physical fiber connections in milliseconds and at the touch of a button. "As the leading supplier of 32 x 32 to 144 x 144 switches we are pleased to now offer a solution that enables customers with smaller facilities to enjoy the benefits of the Glimmerglass solution," said Mark Housley, Glimmerglass CEO.

The System 100 supports fully non-blocking, all-optical connections with an insertion loss of 1.5 dB +/- 0.5 dB. The system can be upgraded in the field to a full 24x24 ports and can also support NxM customer specific configurations, such as 2x46 or 46x2. The System 100 features the same tool set, user interface and functionality as the larger Glimmerglass System 300.

Leading suppliers of fiber management solutions: Amasco, Core Technologies, Cunningham Sales and PhotonUSA will resell Glimmerglass solutions in their respective regions across the United States.
