FormRouter Licensed to Offer Adobe(R) LiveCycle(TM) Reader(R) Extensions Service

Posted on: Tuesday, 12 October 2004, 06:00 CDT

CARY, N.C., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- FormRouter, Inc., announced today that it has signed a license agreement with Adobe Systems Incorporated, allowing the company to activate usage rights in PDF documents and forms as a for-fee customer service. Chris M. Pieper, CEO and Chairman for FormRouter commented, "We are very pleased to be the first Adobe partner to offer Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions as a service. FormRouter customers can now have Reader Extensions usage rights applied to individual forms as needed -- without the need to acquire, install and support a dedicated solution."

FormRouter's Reader Extensions Service enables usage rights within PDF files that will "turn on" functionality within the ubiquitous Adobe Reader, available free of charge and distributed more than 500 million times. When the user launches a rights-enabled Adobe PDF document in Adobe Reader, the user will be able to take advantage of added capabilities such as filling in and saving the form offline. After the user completes and submits the form, those functions are once again disabled until the user receives another rights-enabled PDF file.

Christopher Smith, President of American Graphics Institute (AGI), an Adobe Certified Expert for Adobe Acrobat(R) software and author of the definitive guide to Adobe Acrobat 6.0 (Real World Acrobat 6 Pro and Standard) commented, "Adobe's deal with FormRouter benefits all users who need to distribute documents using Adobe PDF. FormRouter saves businesses time and money by allowing them to unlock hidden features in PDF documents as a service. FormRouter's Reader Extension Service makes locally saving PDF form documents with the free Adobe Reader a viable option for business of all sizes."

"We are pleased to be working with FormRouter to further expand the sizable reach of Adobe Reader and to deliver the benefits of Reader Extensions. FormRouter constituents can now download, save, fill in, digitally sign, and submit electronic PDF forms at their convenience, dramatically lowering processing costs and virtually eliminating the need for paper-based forms," said Ryan Hunter, Sr. Product Marketing Manager for Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions.
