MTC Awarded $21 Million for NETCENTS Work at Eglin Air Force Base
DAYTON, Ohio, May 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — MTC Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq Global Select Market: MTCT), an industry-recognized provider of aircraft modernization and sustainment, professional services, C4ISR, and logistics solutions to the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security agencies, announced today that its C4ISR Group Engineering Division recently received a $21 million award to provide a highly survivable fiber optic cable infrastructure on Santa Rosa Island, an Eglin Air Force Base (AFB) facility off the coast of Florida. MTC will execute this task order through the Air Force Network Centric Solutions (NETCENTS) contract vehicle with its NETCENTS prime, Multimax, Inc.
Under the task order, MTC will rebuild and strengthen a fiber optic cable network that has been repeatedly damaged by extensive hurricane storm surges over the past several years. This project will greatly enhance the network survivability, even during the worst possible storm surge. Santa Rosa Island is home to the Range Information Grid (RIG), which supports a broad spectrum of weapons research, testing, development, and other Eglin AFB programs for the United States Air Force and numerous other DoD organizations.
“MTC has designed, integrated, and implemented innovative engineering solutions across the Department of Defense for over 20 years,” said MTC Executive Vice President Mike Cauldwell, who heads the company’s C4ISR Group. “My Engineering Division, located in Satellite Beach, Florida, will deliver a hardened fiber network that will survive for decades.
“The team has an impressive track record for solving the most complex problems,” Mr. Cauldwell continued. “Under their leadership, MTC will provide the 96th Communications Group and the 46th Test Wing with a Range Information Grid that is resilient to hurricane storm surges, and ensure that this critical infrastructure is available to support a broad spectrum of weapons research, testing, development, and other programs at Eglin AFB. We are honored that Multimax and MTC have been selected for this important work.”
MTC delivers warfighter solutions involving systems engineering, information technology, intelligence, and program management services primarily to DoD. Cited by Forbes magazine as 16th of the “25 Fastest Growing Technology Companies in 2006,” by Washington Technology as 34th in revenue growth among the “Top 100″ of IT Federal Prime Contractors, and ranked 2nd by Aviation Week & Space Technology as the “Top Performing Small Company,” MTC employs approximately 3,000 people, in more than 40 locations.
