FREDERICK, Md., May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Bechtel National, Inc. today announced that it will serve as a teaming partner to AT&T Government Solutions, a business unit of AT&T, which has been awarded the Networx Universal contract by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). The Networx Universal program has a potential value of $20 billion over the next 10 years.
Under the Networx Universal contract, Bechtel National will team with AT&T in its efforts to compete for task orders for telecommunications, networking, and related services. Bechtel National brings to the team its long-standing experience in serving the federal government, with particular focus on engineering, procurement, construction, and project management on complex, first-of-a-kind projects for agencies including the Departments of Defense, Energy, Homeland Security and State.
The AT&T-led team consists of industry-leading networking and IT partners such as Northrop Grumman Information Technology of McLean, Va.; EDS of Herndon, Va.; GTSI Corp. of Chantilly, Va.; SRA International, Inc., of Fairfax, Va.; and Global Crossing of Florham Park, N.J.
"We are thrilled to be part of the AT&T team," said Jim Payne, president of Federal Telecoms, Bechtel National. "We look forward to drawing on our extensive experience in successfully deploying complex communications infrastructure in support of task order work awarded to AT&T."
Networx consists of two contract vehicles to which AT&T team has submitted bids: Networx Universal was awarded on March 29, 2007 and Networx Enterprise is expected to be awarded in May. Networx will replace the expiring GSA FTS2001 and FTS2001 Crossover contract vehicles.
