The University of Advancing Technology (UAT) has received the designation of Center of Academic Excellence in Information Systems Security Education by the United States National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
UAT earned the designation of Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) for its Information Assurance (IA) courseware. CAE's are designated by the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education (CAEIAE).
According to the CAEIAE, UAT's "ability to meet the increasing demands of the program criteria will serve the nation well in contributing to the protection of National Information Infrastructure." UAT passed a stringent review process that demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence in IA education. Designation as a CAEIAE is valid for five academic years, after which the school must successfully reapply in order to retain its CAEIAE designation.
Besides the prestige and recognition by the government, this designation brings UAT for its Information Assurance courseware, this designation benefits students of the University by making financial aid opportunities (grants and scholarships) available to them through the Department of Defense and the Federal Cyber Service for Service Program.
UAT is only one of two schools in Arizona to have achieved this designation.
