Posted on: Monday, 21 May 2007, 09:00 CDT

RESTON, Va., May 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- XO Communications today announced that it has signed an agreement to provide wavelength services to NTT America, a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation.

Under the terms of the agreement, XO will provide multiple 10 Gigabit (Gbps) wavelength circuits to NTT America connecting regional and coast-to- coast locations across the United States. NTT America will use the XO wavelength services to expand the capacity of its network, connect multiple data centers and points of presence on its backbone and support the delivery of services it currently provides to its customers.

"XO's network and product offerings complement NTT America's network plans within the United States," said Kazuhiro Gomi, Vice President, Global IP Network Business Unit, NTT America. "NTT America appreciates carriers that can deliver quality services on-time to meet our increasing network demands. XO has proven to be a good partner in that regard."

"We're very pleased that NTT America has joined hands with XO for our nationwide transport solutions," said Ernie Ortega, president of XO Carrier Services. "Our advanced inter-city network and service delivery capabilities enable XO to provision transport solutions quickly for our customers that help them meet and manage their own capacity. Through the investments on our inter-city network, XO is able to meet growing demand for bandwidth by leading service providers like NTT America."

XO Carrier Wavelength Services provide customers with increased network capacity in major locations nationwide to support data, Internet, video and multimedia streaming applications. Available without having to deploy additional fiber, these services give customers an easy-to-implement, fully managed and economical solution for point-to-point connectivity needs while utilizing their existing ATM, Frame Relay, SONET and IP equipment, thereby reducing their network costs, shortening time to market, and maintaining control of their own networks.
