Tehuti Networks Demonstrates Backplane Ethernet 10GBASE-KR With AMCC at Interop Las Vegas 2007

Tehuti Networks, a semiconductor company providing 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) single-chip, low-power network controllers will be demonstrating 10GBASE-KR and 10GBASE-T respectively in AMCC booth #663 and the Data Center Ethernet Pod at the Ethernet Alliance booth #2265 at Interop Las Vegas, May 22-24 in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
For the demonstration of a backplane Ethernet ecosystem, Tehuti Networks' TN3016 controller will transmit data to an AMCC QT2055 evaluation board. The QT2055 board will drive 10GBASE-KR across the backplane to be terminated into a jointly-developed AMCC/Fulcrum reference switch platform. This platform uses the Fulcrum FocalPoint FM2224 24-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet Switch reference design and AMCC's QT2035S 10Gbps SFP+ PHY. The Fulcrum switch will then terminate the data in another Tehuti Networks NIC. The result is a complete end-to-end, server-switch-server 10 Gigabit Ethernet network solution.
"This is the first step in showing the viability of an end-to-end ecosystem for 10GBASE-KR backplanes," said Blaine Kohl, vice president of marketing, Tehuti Networks. "With the small footprint and low power capabilities of the controller and PHY ICs, server blades will have the opportunity to increase their bandwidth capabilities."
Tehuti Networks' demonstrations in the Data Center Ethernet Pod in the Ethernet Alliance booth will include a demonstration of 10GBASE-T based upon the IEEE Std 802.3an™-2006 which specifies the transmission of 10GbE speeds over twisted pair copper cabling. An additional demonstration includes multiple servers interconnected using Tehuti Networks' low-profile dual-CX4, TN7585-D 10GbE Network Interface Cards (NICs) through a switch. The TN7585-D adapter dimensions are a mere 4.6" by 2.5".
