Congressman Rick Boucher (D-VA), FCC Commissioner Robert M. McDowell and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce and NTIA Administrator John M.R. Kneuer are confirmed to keynote Pike & Fischer's Broadband Policy Summit III: Broadband Full Steam Ahead (www.broadbandpolicysummit.com), at The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City, Arlington, VA, June 7-8, 2007.
The annual Summit is Washington's critical, industry-influencing event where top government and industry experts discuss and debate how technological advances, legal and policy developments and changing business models are shaping our country's broadband future.
Congressman Boucher is a member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee and Co-Chair of the Congressional Internet Caucus. He has been a leading advocate for the reform of federal telecom laws and has authored or sponsored laws allowing commercial traffic on the Internet, the first Satellite Home Viewer Act, and the first bills enabling telco/cable video competition. He is a leading voice in the net neutrality, universal service reform, broadband deployment, and intellectual property debates now taking center stage in Congress and the marketplace.
FCC Commissioner McDowell has been a forceful advocate of accelerated broadband deployment, unlicensed spectrum use, regulatory parity, public safety, and small business activity in the telecom sector. As head of the NTIA, John M.R. Kneuer represents The White House in domestic and international telecommunications and information policy activities.
Commissioner McDowell and Congressman Boucher will keynote morning and afternoon sessions, respectively, on Thursday, June 7. NTIA Administrator John M.R. Kneuer will serve as the morning keynote on Friday, June 8.
During the two-day Summit, which is chaired by Richard E. Wiley, former FCC Chairman and Senior Partner at Wiley Rein LLP, business and government leaders will define and debate the trends, issues and problems shaping policy decisions that will foster or inhibit growth in the broadband sector. Panel discussions will cover regulatory and legislative activity, emerging telecom applications, net neutrality, broadband deployment, state and local issues, and insights and forecasts from top Wall Street analysts. A complete Summit agenda with speakers is available at www.broadbandpolicysummit.com.
The Summit will once again play host to a wide range of industry experts and senior executives representing telcos, cable companies, content companies, equipment providers, Wall Street firms, industry associations, academia and policy think tanks.
