KVVU FOX5 Las Vegas Launches ActiveAccess Technology to Deliver News and Weather Directly to the Desktop

Posted on: Thursday, 31 May 2007, 15:00 CDT

BIA Information Network, a leading provider of private-label desktop applications, announced today it has teamed with Las Vegas Television station KVVU FOX5 to launch its ActiveAccess desktop application in the Las Vegas television market. The application, named FOX5 Desktop Weather 24/7, will deliver the station's news, weather, videos and alerts directly to the computer desktops of residents in Las Vegas and surrounding areas.

Holly Steuart, Vice-President and General Manager of FOX5, said, "FOX5 Desktop Weather 24/7 directly connects users to the most important live weather information available and keeps it on their desktop so it's always available. It's easy to use and simple for our viewers to download."

FOX5 Desktop Weather 24/7 uses the powerful Internet technology of ActiveAccess to create a direct and interactive pipeline to an audience. After downloading the application from the FOX5 website, www.fox5vegas.com , users receive personalized, real-time local and national weather information, breaking news, streaming video and other types of content from FOX5. FOX5 can also target user demographics with specific messaging based on user-defined interests selected during signup.

Jill Saarela, FOX5 General Sales Manager, said, "This application is a revolutionary way of keeping our Las Vegas residents informed and gives our advertisers a unique advertising vehicle that ties back into our on-air and on-line initiatives. Embarq, our corporate sponsor, immediately saw the advantages of being able to showcase their new products and services through this rare marketing opportunity."

Haidee Calore, Senior Vice President and General Manager for BIA Information Network, said, "ActiveAccess delivers a communication channel that cuts through online clutter and places a station's brand and content right in front of its audience. The application allows viewers to receive the information they want and need even when they are not watching the station's broadcast on television. We are confident that our product will help FOX5 reach the Las Vegas audience and build brand loyalty."

FOX5 Desktop Weather 24/7 is a non-intrusive program containing no adware, spyware or spam. It can be installed at work or at home and will not slow down a company's network or use much RAM or hard drive space.

The FOX5 Desktop Weather 24/7 application can be downloaded from their website http://www.fox5vegas.com/desktopweather/index.html.
