PowerNet Global Standardizes on Sylantro Systems for Nationwide VoIP Services Via Next-Gen Network

Posted on: Tuesday, 19 October 2004, 12:00 CDT

Emerging National Wholesale and Retail Carrier to Deploy New Business IP Centrex Offering and New Hosted IP Voice Offering to Serve Large Residential Customer Base

Sylantro Systems Corporation today announced that PowerNet Global Communications (PNG), an integrated communications provider, has chosen the Sylantro application feature server platform for a nationwide hosted voice over IP (VoIP) service offering in conjunction with PNG's next-generation network. Headquartered in Cincinnati, the company serves more than 50,000 business customers and 500,000 residential subscribers nationwide. PNG's business IP Centrex offering is scheduled for 1Q2005, with a residential VoIP product launch offering to follow in 2Q2005 using the same Sylantro platform.

PowerNet Global operates a nationwide voice network based on Veraz Networks' tandem softswitch and media gateways. The company's residential users will be able to use virtually any broadband service in conjunction with the PNG VoIP service while receiving telco-grade voice quality. Sylantro's next-generation network application feature server complements the PNG network by providing Class 5 features coupled with advanced capabilities such as click-to-call, find me/follow me and private-brandable, browser-based portals.

"Our goal is to lead the market as a next-generation service provider by exploring new opportunities in the developing VoIP marketplace and by positioning our offerings to maximize sales and retention as our existing customers transition. We are keenly aware that our choice of partner in an applications feature server is critical to our success," said Bernie Stevens, CEO of PowerNet Global Communications. "We did an intensive head-to-head comparison of VoIP service platforms, and Sylantro's field-proven products, extensive feature set, telco-grade performance, and reputation in the industry for strong after-sale support made the choice obvious for us."

Founded in 1992, PowerNet Global has grown to over $120 million in annual revenue through a strong focus on customer care and a broad set of telecommunications and Internet services for business and residential customers. The company's services are sold through agent and affinity channels who promote the PowerNet Global brand, or in some instances private-label the PNG offering. The new Sylantro-based voice-over-broadband service offering will extend PNG's offerings to deliver new IP-based voice services with advanced, differentiated features and functionality.

"PowerNet Global is a great example of a new breed of service provider that is using next-generation networks to deploy value-added voice-over-IP services," said Pete Bonee, president and CEO of Sylantro Systems. "By deploying our next-generation network applications feature server, PNG is creating new opportunities for their business and residential sales channels, and providing their existing customer base with new flexibility and capabilities in their communications."

In addition to the Sylantro applications, the PNG solution incorporates IPeria's ActivEdge unified communications applications for advanced integrated messaging services, and Convedia's media server products. IPeria is a Sylantro Premier Partner and Convedia is a Sylantro Preferred Partner. Sylantro is exhibiting in booth 1029 at the Fall 2004 VON (Voice on the Net) conference and expo, held October 18 through 21 at the Hynes Convention Center, Boston. IPeria is exhibiting in booth 1206, and Convedia is in booth 919.

Sylantro Systems is the leading provider of hosted PBX and IP Centrex applications, voice VPN capabilities and consumer broadband applications via the company's proven carrier-grade feature server. Sylantro's solutions are successfully deployed around the globe with the widest market distribution in its product class.
