IIJ-Tech Launches IBPS Server Management Service
Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (“IIJ”, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan’s leading Internet-access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced that IIJ Technology Inc. (“IIJ-Tech”), IIJ’s 100% owned subsidiary, will release the IBPS Server Management Service which provides servers on demand from August 1, 2007.
The IBPS Server Management Service provides customers the optimum server solution in a very short time when they need it using the Data Center Automation software developed by Opsware Inc. (NASDAQ: OPSW). This service is ideal for customers that maintaining websites with high periodic fluctuations in traffic, such as websites that facilitate marketing campaigns. It is also ideal for customers who want to minimize equipment cost risks on systems whose traffic demands are not clearly forecasted. Customers also find the service useful to customers investigate ways of reducing the initial investment of system renewal.
IBPS Server Management Service Feature Highlights
— Provides Resources on Demand IIJ-Tech will retain servers as the resources for this service and provide customers their necessary amount of the resources when they need them. Customers can respond quickly and flexibly to temporary spikes and dips in system traffic without purchase of their own servers.
— Responds flexibly through custom systems Since the customers’ peculiar server specifications are managed through the provisioning tool(*), customers can use stable systems that meet their requests without any impact by other users or services.
— Reduces initial construction time and raise quality This service enables the reduction of initial configuration time since the provisioning tool allows central administration of each customers’ server configurations, enabling comprehensive semi-automated construction from basic system to monitoring system. This service also realizes the premium quality of customers’ system integrity due to standardization and sharing of the package configuration file and other files.
— Rapidly update files like security patches Security patches and other files updates are applied semi-automatically, enabling all servers to be updated rapidly.
The Server Management Service is added to IIJ-Tech’s IBPS service lineup that already released the Data Management Service and the Network Management Service, both on-demand services. Customers can now freely mix and match server, storage, and network components to create the ideal system for their needs by our IBPS service.
IIJ-Tech will continue to construct and manage high-quality systems that flexibly and rapidly respond to customer needs.
