eBay Has Best Web 2.0 Developer Program, Latest Evans Data Survey Shows

eBay was named to have the best overall Web 2.0 developer program available when ranked against Amazon, Google, MSN, PayPal and Yahoo, according to Evans Data's latest Developer's Choice: Web 2.0 Developer Programs survey. Ranking criteria ranged from certification to documentation, developer support, case studies, solutions directories and marketing assistance, and Web services. eBay's users rated them best due primarily to the strength of eBay's web services - which allows third party developers to create Web-based applications to conduct business with the eBay platform and through a similar interface.

For best tools, Google and MSN are virtually tied for first place. Developers appreciate Microsoft's overall leveraged set of technologies and Google's dominance comes from their enterprise-tier tools for search, collaboration and publishing, and geospatial mapping.

MSN's main strength is in Web services technology through their technical sophistication with .NET Web services solutions as well as the loyalty of developers in the Microsoft ecosystem.

Thirty One percent of developers surveyed considered Amazon to offer the highest levels of security.
