CN8 launched in the Washington, D.C. market in September 2006 and opened its sixth East Coast studio in the nation’s Capital in January 2007. In just four months, CN8′s D.C. hub has been a hotbed of activity, hosting local and nationally renowned elected officials, organizations and other regional experts eager to share their views on politics, sports, entertainment, finance, issues and more with CN8′s East Coast audience.
“These are CN8′s first Emmys from the Television Academy’s National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter, and it is especially rewarding given our recent launch and studio opening steps away from the Capital,” said Jon Gorchow, vice president and general manager, CN8, The Comcast Network. “Lynn and Gregg lead two of CN8′s flagship, original primetime programs and we are honored that they and their talented teams have earned the Academy’s recognition for outstanding work in the areas of issues/talk and sports, respectively.”
Founded by Comcast Cable Eastern Division president, Michael Doyle, CN8 is today the nation’s largest and most recognized regional 24-hour cable network, producing live interactive issues-oriented, talk, sports and entertainment programming. In September 2006, CN8, The Comcast Network launched in Washington, D.C., expanding its reach to more than nine million homes in 12 states and 20 television markets stretching from Maine to Washington, D.C. and Virginia. The network produces and airs more than 90 hours of original programming each week out of its six state-of-the-art studios in the Baltimore, Boston, Delaware, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. areas, and produces more than 200 local, regional and national sporting events.
Hosted by CN8′s political director and now eight-time Emmy-winner Lynn Doyle, “It’s Your Call” is an issues-oriented talk show that tackles national headlines at the regional and local level. The show’s interactive format encourages viewer feedback and generates an exciting and thought-provoking hour of television, making it the most opinionated talk show in the region. The show is known for attracting high-profile guests who can speak about the tough issues facing the country today. “It’s Your Call with Lynn Doyle” airs weeknights at 9 p.m. on CN8, The Comcast Network and a 30-minute version airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m.
Each weeknight, now three-time Emmy Award-winning host, Gregg Murphy, leads “Out of Bounds,” a fast-paced look at the hot issues, controversial figures, rivalries, agonies and triumphs of the four greatest sports cities in the CN8 viewing area and, arguably, the nation. Regular panelists contributing to the show include former NFL All-Pro and Washington D.C.’s SportsTalk 980-AM host Brian Mitchell; Philadelphia’s popular WIP-AM host Rhea Hughes; and other experts joining in from CN8′s six regional network studios. “Out of Bounds” airs exclusively on CN8, The Comcast Network weeknights from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
All of CN8′s original programs and special events are available ON DEMAND to Comcast Digital Cable customers at no charge.
