SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- M7 Networks Inc. (http://www.m7networks.com/ ) a leading trusted partner and enabler of advanced wireless services, announced today a definitive agreement with AT&T Wireless to deliver a mobile gaming community, creating the industry's first carrier- sponsored, inter-operable game community. M7 Networks will build, host and manage the gaming community on behalf of AT&T Wireless.
Earlier this year, M7 Networks and Sprint launched The Game Lobby from Sprint: the industry's first carrier-wide gaming community, which recently received the 3G CDMA Industry Achievement Award for Innovative Mobile Gaming.
AT&T Wireless' game community and The Game Lobby from Sprint will be interconnected, allowing gamers to share common leaderboards, maintain cross- carrier buddy lists, share member profiles, and to have player-to-player messaging regardless of the player's carrier affiliation. Although the subscribers of each carrier remain in their carrier's respective branded environment, the gamer is afforded the richer environment of a combined member base.
"Given our expertise in mobile community enablement, we will not only create and manage the game community for AT&T Wireless but will also connect its members to a cross-carrier community including The Game Lobby from Sprint," said William Erickson, president and CEO of M7 Networks. "M7 believes that cross-carrier communities will provide all carriers with a compelling offering for their subscribers - reinforcing carrier brand while allowing subscribers tie into a larger social network for greater game playing."
"The Game Lobby is growing in popularity with our customers because they enjoy meeting and competing with other players," said Jason Ford, general manager of games, Sprint. "Carrier interoperability of the gaming community is just one example of how Sprint continually offers innovative solutions to further enhance the gaming experience."
The game community, a service for AT&T Wireless subscribers who purchase community-enabled games, will provide a mobile environment for players to meet and compete. Managed by M7 Networks Inc., The game community will be available on select Java-enabled mMode phones later in 2004.
