Aethera's Unique AEGIS-V(TM) 4th Gen Multi-Service Access and Metro Networking Solutions Selected By Cox Communications for Deployment in Santa Barbara

Posted on: Tuesday, 19 June 2007, 06:00 CDT

Aethera NetworksTM, a globally focused company delivering 4th Generation (4G) solutions in the multi-service access and metro networking markets, announced today that Cox Communications has purchased an AEGIS-VTM 4G system consisting of AEX-200TM network elements, an innovative micro-footprint multi-service switching and provisioning platform (uMSxP) that concurrently supports high-density TDM and emerging packet-based services. Designed to facilitate and deliver highly-scalable, resilient converged networks, the AEGIS-VTM architecture features MEF-certified Carrier Ethernet and robust legacy access support within a cost-effective, modular platform. To simplify and accelerate end-to-end service delivery through the AEX-200TM, Cox will deploy Aethera's AE-VUETM integrated element and craft management system in its Santa Barbara market.

The AEGIS-VTM platform enables cable operators to provide a smooth transition for customers migrating from legacy to next-generation communications architectures. "We are excited to continue our longstanding commitment to delivering innovative, highly reliable, and cost effective networking solutions to Cox Communications," said Sami Yazdi, President and CEO of Aethera NetworksTM. "Cox's decision to extend and enhance its network in California with Aethera underlines the AEGIS-V's compelling value in addressing the continued migration to packet-based network architectures."

"The AEGIS-VTM 4G platform delivered on two fundamental Cox networking requirements -- reliability and interoperability with our legacy infrastructures," said Dan Estes, Director of Transport Engineering for Cox Communications. "The spacing saving, micro flex (uFlexTM) performance-optimized footprint of the AEGIS-VTM solution, and its flexible support for both traditional TDM and leading edge MEF-compliant Carrier Ethernet services operating up to wirespeed GbE rates were also factors in our selection."

Aethera NetworksTM will be demonstrating its Cox (TMEC) and MEF Certified AEGIS-VTM network solutions at NXTcomm 2007 in Chicago (Booth 6057).
