Bright House Networks Selects Salira to Serve Business Customers in Central Florida

Salira Systems, Inc. the leading provider of standards-based Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GE-PON) systems, today announced that Bright House Networks selected the Salira 3000 Series to serve business customers in Central Florida. The Salira 3000 Series is the company's standards-based product line based on the IEEE 802.3ah protocols for Ethernet PON (EPON). Bright House Networks, a division of Advance/Newhouse, is using Salira's equipment to deliver enterprise-class services in Orlando and the greater Tampa Bay Area.
"This is a big step forward that will allow our corporate customers to enjoy more tailored Internet access, or metro Ethernet service at a lower cost than would otherwise be possible," said André Martineau, Senior Director, Business Solutions for Advance Newhouse Communications.
GE-PON technology is ideally suited for the high-speed transmission of voice and data -- the most critical applications for business customers. Embracing this new technology is just one of the ways Bright House Networks is maintaining its role as the innovation leader in business communications services. Bright House Networks is the first business communications provider to deploy GE-PON technology on a large scale in North America. The deployment, which involves Salira's standards-based line cards and Optical Network Units (ONUs), has already been deployed and is carrying live customer traffic.
"Salira's equipment works with virtually any brand of networking equipment at the customer's site, so services can be personalized to meet specific customer requirements," said Dr. Jeffrey R. Stribling, VP Marketing and Customer Service for Salira Systems, Inc. "Moreover, we can deliver these services while reducing the capital and operational costs associated with the network."
Salira will be demonstrating the Salira 3000 Series at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2007 in Orlando, Florida, from June 19-22. Salira representatives will be available in Booth 1102, near the Hall B2 and B3 entrance.
The Salira 3000 Series offers full capability to deliver IEEE 802.3ah standards-based EPON services. Salira is using market-leading Teknovus chipsets in the Salira 3000 Series. The 3000 Series consists of the Salira 2550 Optical Line Terminal (OLT), Salira 3540 OLT, Salira 3345 Optical Network Unit (ONU), Salira 3350G ONU and Salira 3350GR ONU. Services are provisioned and maintained by Salira's best-in-class network management system known as SAM (Salira Access Management). This diverse and extensible product line enables economically-viable deployments in a wide variety of service provider environments.
