OVERLAND PARK, Kan., June 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Embarq Corporation announced today that it has received Metro Ethernet Forum 14 certification. Just last month the communications company received MEF 9 certification, meaning EMBARQ Metro Ethernet Networks are fully capable of offering business customers a reliable suite of Ethernet services including Ethernet LAN, Ethernet Private Line and Ethernet Virtual Private Line.
"We already have an SLA in place for Ethernet services, however that SLA was not based on MEF 14 certification," said Kenny Wyatt, vice president of Marketing and Product Management. "MEF 14 certification gives EMBARQ Ethernet customers added confidence we meet technical specifications to manage the quality of our network."
On behalf of MEF, Iometrix, an independent lab, linked into the EMBARQ network to conduct the certification tests from a subscriber's point of view. The MEF is a non-profit international industry consortium, dedicated to worldwide adoption of Carrier Ethernet networks and services. The Forum is comprised of leading service providers, major incumbent local exchange carriers, top network equipment vendors and other prominent networking companies that share an interest in Metro Ethernet.
