Actelis Networks' Carrier Ethernet Over Copper Solutions Deliver ConnectStream Ethernet IP Services for Windstream

Posted on: Wednesday, 20 June 2007, 09:01 CDT

At NXTcomm 2007, Actelis Networks® (Booth 6042), the leading global supplier of Carrier Ethernet over Copper™ solutions, today announced that Windstream (NYSE:WIN), the Little Rock, Arkansas-based ILEC which was formed through the spinoff of Alltel's landline business and merger with VALOR Telecom, has deployed Actelis' ML1300 and ML600 point-to-multipoint systems as a cost-effective way to offer symmetrical Ethernet access connections to its customers in a variety of vertical market segments, including government agencies, educational institutions, health care facilities, and Small/Medium Businesses (SMBs).

"We are very pleased that Windstream has selected our award-winning Carrier Ethernet over Copper solutions to deliver its ConnectStream services," said Mehmet Balos, president of worldwide marketing, sales and services at Actelis Networks. "We believe that our cost-effective carrier Ethernet solutions will support Windstream's ongoing mission of delivering superior broadband data services to its diverse customer base across its territory."

Windstream is continuing the rollout of its ConnectStream family of Virtual LAN Service (VLS), Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Ethernet Internet Access (EIA) services in key markets throughout the states of Nebraska and Kentucky during 2007. ConnectStream VLS, VPN and EIA are Windstream's innovative next-generation Ethernet/IP solutions that provide customers robust, scalable virtual private data and Internet-based services over the company's MPLS core network.

"The Actelis solution plays a key role in Windstream's overall Metro Ethernet network architecture. The reach and reliability of their technology enables us to extend the advantages and cost benefits of broadband Ethernet services to our core small and medium-size business customers," said Bill Henke, director of enterprise solutions at Windstream.

"Access to affordable, managed Ethernet/IP services is every bit as important to customers in the rural markets that Windstream predominately serves as it is to large enterprises located in major metropolitan areas," commented Don Wilborne, senior vice president of business sales at Windstream. "Actelis' Ethernet over Copper solutions enable Windstream to deliver high-quality Ethernet bandwidth to many of our customers for which fiber-based Ethernet access is just too costly."
