Numerex Announces MMP(TM) Network Access Module for CellemetryXG Networks

CTIA WIRELESS I.T.(R) & Entertainment 2004, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Numerex Corp. , a leader in wireless M2M solutions, today announced the Multi-Mode/Multi-Path network access module or MMP. Designed to provide maximum flexibility for M2M network design and deployment, the MMP(TM) module delivers maximum network options for CellemetryXG Solution Providers.

The MMP modules are comprised of single radio modules supporting multiple analog and digital radio technologies. Supported technologies will include GSM, CDMA, AMPS and SMS for either GSM or CDMA. Support is also provided for future expansion to broadband wireless. In addition, the MMP can also be optionally configured with an integrated IP communications module providing encrypted 10/100 Ethernet network connectivity.

"We believe MMP significantly changes our value proposition for M2M Solutions Providers building applications that prefer multiple wireless network pathways and Ethernet connectivity," stated Mike Marett, executive vice president of operations. For example, it is ideal for wireless networked security or environmental monitoring applications used in conjunction with VOIP and broadband communications.

Additionally, Mr. Rawlings commented that his understanding of this new product is that it has a wide range of applications. Ackerman's primary interest in this type product has been, and is, to allow transmission of security, fire, medical, and other emergency signals from homes and businesses over the multiple technologies to Ackerman's Alarm Monitoring Central Station.

The MMP also includes an RS-232 serial port that can be used to program the unit, execute flash upgrade and micro-controller firmware modifications in the field, and provide serial connectivity to auxiliary devices, including SCADA systems, alarm panels, and others. The unit comes standard with four opto-isolated inputs and two relay outputs.

Scheduled for availability in 1Q05, MMP will be available in multiple technology and pricing configurations that support multiple network interfaces, technologies and applications.
