Reliability and Rich Wired/Wireless Feature Set Distinguishes ZyXEL Managed Network Infrastructure for World's Largest Hotel Chain
ZyXEL Communications Inc., a leading provider of broadband access solutions, announced another broadband solution deployment in The World's Largest Hotel Chain(R). With more than 4,100 hotels in 80 countries and territories, Best Western International teamed with communications integrator BestComm and ZyXEL to deliver secure wireless Internet access and networking to millions of guests.
"We're thrilled to be a preferred provider working with BestComm and Best Western to deploy this hospitality solution that allows Internet access to be enjoyed by their guests around the globe," said Munira Brooks, senior vice president of sales, marketing and business development, ZyXEL.
BestComm leveraged its advanced communications expertise to create a SpeedLinks(TM) by Best Western Starter Kit, using ZyXEL Managed Switches as the cornerstone of the hotel network infrastructure.
"BestComm is pleased to partner with ZyXEL," said Jim Shipway, president of BestComm Networks Inc. "The ZyXEL ES 3024 managed switch is ideally suited to the lodging industry because it allows fast and easy Internet connectivity for hotel staff and guests. In addition, ZyXEL's advanced network monitoring capabilities include features typically available on more expensive, higher-end equipment, such as port mirroring for remote troubleshooting or traffic analysis, traffic flow, and chipset-temperature monitors for detailed network diagnosis."
The ZyXEL ES 3024 24-port Managed Layer 2 Stackable Fast Ethernet Switch, along with ZyAIR Wireless LAN solutions, is a key component of an integrated solution providing over half of Best Western's North American hotels with secure, highly manageable networking.
"As the world's largest hotel chain, we have a solid reputation for providing quality services and amenities to both business and pleasure travelers," said Jim Newhall, managing director of technology for Best Western International. "Therefore, it's essential that we offer our guests the most reliable, high-performance, easy-to-use Internet access. ZyXEL, well-known as one of the broadband industry leaders, is part of our best-in-class solution."
The ES 3024 managed switches also enhance network efficiency through bandwidth management, multicast and broadcast storm control. In addition, network administrators are given control to limit the number of users (Mac addresses) from the same port who can access the network through the ES 3024.
Wireless Internet access is delivered to guests through ZyXEL's industry-leading ZyAIR G-1000 Wireless LAN Access Point and ZyAIR B-122 Wireless LAN CardBus PC Cards. With Wi-Fi and Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) certification, the ZyAIR client family is compatible with all Wi-Fi certified products and ensures hassle-free installation. The ZyAIR family features powerful security mechanisms such as IEEE 802.1x user authentication and Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), both of which allow users to communicate and access data with efficient link quality and high-level network security.
