Magnify.Net Releases User Generated Video Search-Collection-Sharing Application on Facebook(R) Platform

NEW YORK, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Magnify.net announced today a user-generated video search, collection, sharing application built on Facebook Platform. Now 27 million users of Facebook may create, organize and manage their very own video channel on their Facebook profile pages, creating video collections tailored to their personal interests. Videos from YouTube, Revver, Daily Motion, Metacafe, Google, and many other popular video hosting sites can be searched, collected, organized and shared by even the most novice users of Internet-based video.
"Facebook's ability to connect people with their friends is a perfect environment for Magnify.net video capabilities," said Steve Rosenbaum, CEO of Magnify.net. "Our Facebook application is a great way to use your Facebook profile as the home base for your collection of videos. Facebook is a vibrant and amazing community - and now that it has opened the platform to folks beyond the high school and college crowd, it's rapidly becoming the social utility of choice for groups and connected communities."
How The Magnify.net Application Works
Using search terms entered by Facebook users such as "comedy", a school name, or popular band names, the Magnify.net AutoSearch application finds relevant videos wherever they are hosted on the Internet and brings them into a Facebook user's profile. The videos are then sorted and organized for a user's review. When a user selects several or a hundred videos she would like to share on her Facebook profile, all of the selected videos will be available for visitors to view, rate and review.
For example, if a Facebook user would like to share videos of her favorite hobbies, she can add the Magnify.net application to her Facebook page in less than 60 seconds and search the Internet for "Radio Controlled Model Airplane video" or "women's sports". The videos found from all points across the Internet will be aggregated on her Facebook page, where she can highlight some and delete others before sharing them with friends. From there, a user can include other favorite videos on different topics of interest, or upload her own videos. And for Facebook users who already have a YouTube or Revver account, the Magnify.net application will automatically bring in all of their uploaded videos or 'favorites' with a single search and continue to keep the Facebook video collection in sync with the YouTube user account.
"We see the impact of engaged video viewers as an exciting step toward sorting out the huge volume of videos on the web," said Rosenbaum. "Quickly - the role of video curator is becoming just as important as that of creator. There's lots of great material out there - now your friends can help you find it with your shared interests."
Facebook and the Facebook Platform
Facebook is a social utility that offers an efficient way for people to stay connected with their friends and the people around them. Facebook users communicate and share information through the social graph, the network of connections and relationships between people. With more than 27 million active users, Facebook is the sixth-most trafficked website in the United States. More than 50 percent of Facebook users return to the site each day, providing unparalleled distribution potential for applications and the opportunity to build a business that is highly relevant to people's lives.
"Facebook Platform creates an ecosystem for developers to build applications that integrate deeply into Facebook and use its social graph," said Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook. "By enabling developers to make applications within Facebook, we're working together to create a better utility for millions of people."
