GreenFit, Matter Media and PermissionTV Launch Interactive Internet Video Experience "ChasingGlaciers.Com"

Posted on: Wednesday, 27 June 2007, 09:00 CDT

Today an interactive Web site, video blog and documentary that studies and raises awareness for global climate change debuts at http://www.chasingglaciers.com. "Chasing Glaciers" follows the extreme climbing and skiing adventures in Pakistan's Karakoram Mountains of two female American athletes, who retrace the footsteps of the first woman to climb these mountains 100 years ago.

A collaboration between GreenFit, the Matter Media Network and PermissionTV, "Chasing Glaciers" chronicles a 21,000 foot ascent in the Karakoram Mountains by world-class athletes Alison Gannett and Zoe Hart. Together with respected documentary filmmakers Curt Dowdy and Bill Stevenson, Gannett, a world-champion free skier and career environmentalist, and Hart, the first American woman certified as an Alpine mountain guide, are combining their two passions: extreme sports and environmental consciousness. This "Adventure of Extremes" will also compare glacial conditions to those documented 100 years ago to better understand how climate change is impacting the people, geography and wildlife of this region of the world.

"The 'Chasing Glaciers' expedition by Alison Gannett and Zoe Hart literally breaks new ground in the study of global climate change in one of the world's largest mountain ranges," said Llewellyn Wells, CEO, GreenFit. "We were thrilled to partner with Matter Media and PermissionTV on this once-in-a-lifetime project. What excited me most was being able to capture this historic event and deliver it via the Internet to a global audience who will appreciate both this incredibly exciting adventure and the importance of the cause."

"Chasing Glaciers" is expected to be the first in a series of Web video experiences developed by GreenFit, Matter Media and PermissionTV, an interactive Internet video technology provider. Chasingglaciers.com includes a video blog with interviews, photos and commentary by Gannett and Hart, as well as aggregated material from other filmmakers about previous Himalayan expeditions, extreme adventuring and climate change. Also featured will be webisodes of the series "Xtreme Green" and transmitted satellite images of both the ascent and an epic, first-ever descent of Kosar Gunge Mountain on skis by Gannett and Hart.

"After looking at literally dozens of Internet TV technology options, GreenFit realized that PermissionTV was the best possible strategic partner for us," said Robert Wilson, president and co-founder, GreenFit. "Their smart application and interactive technology platform have helped GreenFit and Matter Media deliver an incredibly compelling, professionally produced Web video experience to a global audience that shares our passion for adventure and environmental concern."

"'Chasing Glaciers' is an extraordinary project and PermissionTV is honored to work with GreenFit's Lew Wells and with Matter Media to raise awareness for such an important global cause and to provide environmentalists and extreme sports enthusiasts worldwide unprecedented access to this incredible journey as it unfolds," said Bob Lentz, CEO, PermissionTV. "Chasingglaciers.com really showcases the flexibility of our technology and our ability to work with partners to create a highly differentiated Internet video experience."
