WPP is a ‘Flea Bite’
June 27, 2007
WPP boss Sir Martin Sorrell drew the battle lines against Google, only to insist his 9bn company was ‘just a little flea bite’ compared to the Internet search giant.
Sorrell said Google was probably a friend in the short term, but the ‘short term got shorter’ once it bought US Internet advertising group DoubleClick.
WPP (up 3p at 735p) has struck back by buying 24/7 Real Media, which ‘provided quite an interesting alternative’ for clients..
