PeaceTrain.org has announced the launch of its newest web site, PeaceTrain2007.org. With the aim of proactively focusing attention on the U.S. involvements in Iraq and Afghanistan, the organization again proposes “A Great Anthem for a Great Movement” by utilizing digital download and streaming technology to spread the message of hope and inspiration embodied in the song Peace Train.

Music and other arts provide a lens through which emotional energy and moral attention can be focused on important issues. The durable 1970s Cat Stevens classic Peace Train has crossed cultural and political boundaries, with covers by other artists ranging from Dolly Parton to 10,000 Maniacs to Richie Havens. The site features a new “send to friends” e-invitation option to encourage distribution to friends, family and decision makers; and links to legal download providers and a Graceland-style a cappella video of this hit song.

Cat Stevens, now known as Yusuf Islam, was previously nominated to the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame, and has been honored by the Gorbachev Foundation with its “Man of Peace” award. According to his Small Kindness Charity, Mr. Islam has supported efforts alleviating the suffering of thousands of children in war-ravaged countries, and has given the majority of the royalties for his artistic activities to the victims of 9/11 and for his work in favor of the homeless, orphans and AIDS sufferers.

PeaceTrain2007.org supports U.S. troops in their peace keeping efforts and the efforts of government leaders in bringing U.S. troops home by enlisting broad international coalition assistance in restoring civil order in Iraq and Afghanistan.

PeaceTrain.org and its associated web sites are not affiliated with Yusuf Islam, his production companies or foundations, or any of the record companies, recording artists or electronic media distributors featured on the site offering the music. PeaceTrain.org is a totally independent, shoestring-budgeted, grassroots effort demonstrating that motivated individuals make a difference. PeaceTrain.org is a 501(c)3 organization (application pending) with no sponsor, corporate, contributor, PAC or 527 affiliations or support and it does not profit from downloads of music from the site.
