Prosperity Studios Inc. Partners With Mayors for Social Transformation Programs in American Cities

Posted on: Wednesday, 4 July 2007, 03:35 CDT

Ambassador Hope, Chairman of Prosperity Studios, is providing visionary Mayors across the US with Social Transformation Programs funded by the private sector.

Ambassador Hope has visited Programs in Washington, DC, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago. She says, "I've talked to the homeless, youth, vets, local service providers, Program Managers and City Halls... the missing ingredients are scale, speed and funds... this is what Prosperity Studios can bring to the Cities."

As the social problems have grown in urban areas, the citizens have encountered a 'failure cascade' and the majority has lost hope. Prosperity Studios introduces a Stakeholder model where everyone has a role and all are part of the solution.

Hope says, "Many Mayors have focused on attracting investments in condominiums, shopping malls and sports facilities, and that's great for tourism and business; however, the Human Assets of a City are the most important and that's where we invest our funds... in services that empower the poor by giving them a hand-up instead of a hand-out."

Since 2000, the world has changed considerably and there are 4 factors that Mayors must adapt to:

1) The Federal Government produced a list of services that it wanted to outsource to the private sector to streamline and reduce costs. This process has been working through the government systems; however, they have been labeled as 'cuts' instead of 'outsourcing opportunities' for the private sector.

2) 'Vertical' systems which rely on a top down command are imploding as the internet impacts the world and 'horizontal' networks of like-minded citizens are winning as they work to unify all the stakeholders through cooperation and collaboration.

3) The 'Scale' of need has never been addressed as a critical planning function. 'Supply and Demand' are natural opposites in commercial and industrial planning. In social services, Cities and towns beg for funds from the budgets and then 'make do' with what little they are given, often being strained to the limit and always the first areas to be cut in a downturn. In a Social Entrepreneur model, 'demand' is measured or projected and 'supply' is garnered from existing resources and then missing ingredients are located and join to ensure the scale of the need can be served.

4) The 'Speed' of need has never been addressed as a critical planning function either. It is obvious that a citizen, who becomes homeless and gets a room at a shelter the first night or a relative's couch, will be much better able to handle seeking accommodation from a place of safety than sleeping on a sidewalk where they are vulnerable to theft, drug pushers, and breakdown in mental and physical health etc. The 'failure cascade' happens fast so the preventative services need to happen faster! It is true that $1 dollar of prevention saves $4 of rehabilitation.

The Stakeholder Model can be applied to any Social need in a City. Prosperity Studios provides the plan, funding and technologies, the City provides a guarantee and the citizens will have access to the new services through their local recreation, education, small-business and faith-based groups. New business opportunities are created for social entrepreneurs to train, mentor, and provide services to the poor.

The Programs available are:

-- Green Retro-fitting of existing buildings with the latest green technologies. Buildings can include apartment blocks, Shopping Malls, faith-based buildings, hotels, libraries, fire stations, schools and low income housing. The transformation process will be filmed and available on the internet for other citizens and Cities to reduce the learning curve and speed up implementation.

-- Homeless Care Clubs(TM) to provide respite and practical services for the homeless.

-- Healthy Living Communities(TM) - one/two person studios built in the factory and assembled on land provided by the City or donors to provide housing for the homeless and returning Vets until they can get a job and move into their own homes.

-- Healthy Living Centers(TM) to provide preventative and rehabilitative healthcare to the uninsured and minorities.

-- Creative Living Courses(TM) at Recreational Centers for 13-18 years old to learn about the environment and play after school.

-- Low interest loans for local citizens to purchase the latest solar and wind technologies to make their own home sustainable and reduce energy bills.

-- Contracts for small, minority-owned, veteran and disabled owned businesses to provide services on a fee-for-service basis.

-- Healthy Living Inter-Faith Program will provide multimedia materials on four topics which can be personalized with specific faith teachings. These include:

-- Healthy Living (Sustainability and Self-care) -- Healthy Finances (Creating wealth and gratitude) -- Healthy Relationships (Building open dialogue and handling conflict) -- Healthy Giving (Being in service to others and sharing)
