Chick-Fil-A to Open Dayton Outlet With Limited Menu
By Nikki Ferrell, Dayton Daily News, Ohio
Jul. 6–DAYTON — Chick-fil-A plans to open a store in downtown Dayton on July 16 at one of the five downtown buildings that have fallen into foreclosure in the past year.
Scott Weaver, who will manage the “lunch express” location, said that the area is the “basic business center downtown,” with the MeadWestvaco Tower, where the store will be located, the Schuster Center, and the Kettering Tower.
“Our real emphasis downtown is express service,” Weaver said. “We’ve done surveys and some people have to wait 15, 20 minutes down there to get a sandwich, anywhere downtown, really. Our goal is 30, 40 seconds, in and out.”
The area hosts lunch sites such as Roly Poly, Quiznos and a coffee shop.
The downtown Chick-fil-A will be open only for lunch, and will not include a kitchen.
Instead, food will be transported from the Washington Twp. location, and the menu will be limited, including only sandwich, wrap or salad combos, said Karen Kyler, marketing director for the Washington Twp. branch.
“We would hope at some point to open a full lunch express location, with a kitchen,” Weaver said.
The 27-story MeadWestvaco Tower, located at 10 W. Second St., houses law firms Deloitte & Touche, Thompson Hine LLP and CareSource. Owned by CS LLC, the property was foreclosed on at the end of May.
Chick-fil-A has five other Dayton locations, and 1,240 restaurants nationwide.
