Exar Announces Senior Management Additions

FREMONT, Calif., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Exar Corporation , a leading provider of high-performance, mixed-signal silicon solutions for the worldwide communications infrastructure announced today three additions to its senior management team. Bentley Long was promoted to Division Vice President, Sales for the Americas, Gilles Marsigne was promoted to Division Vice President Sales, EMEA and Asia Pacific, and Hung Le was promoted to Division Vice President, Technology Group. Both Long and Marsigne will report to Michael Class, vice president, worldwide sales, and Le will report to Roubik Gregorian, acting president and CEO.

"Bentley and Gilles bring almost 40 years of combined sales and marketing experience to their new positions, and Hung has a track record of over 20 years of successes in semiconductor device physics and process technology," said Roubik Gregorian, acting president and CEO. Long has been with Exar for more than eight years, and was most recently Director, Eastern Area Sales and North American Channel Management. Before joining Exar, Mr. Long was with VLSI Technology for six years in a variety of sales and sales management positions. Prior to that, he was in sales with Texas Instruments. Mr. Long holds a B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from Vanderbilt University, and a M.B.A. degree from the University of Tennessee. In addition to his responsibilities with Exar, he serves as the Vice Chair of the Southeast Regional Board of Directors of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

Marsigne has been with Exar for almost seven years and was the Director of Sales, in Europe until his promotion. Before that, Mr. Marsigne was an International Key Accounts Sales Manager for EXAR. Previously, he was with VLSI Technology for seven years, culminating in a position as Sales Manager, Western Europe, and before that he held sales and product management positions with Tekelec-Airtronic, a leading French component distributor. Mr. Marsigne started his career with Thomson-C.S.F. Electronic Tubes Division, as a Production Engineer. He holds an engineering degree from C.E.S.T.I., a French national college of electronic and mechanical engineering.

Hung Le joined the Company in 1995 when the Company acquired Startech Semiconductor, Inc., where he served as Director of Technology. He was promoted to his current position as Director of CTO Technology in 1997. Prior to joining Startech in 1994, Mr. Le was Manager of Technology at Sierra Semiconductor, Inc. Mr. Le has 21 years of experience in semiconductor physics and processing and has been issued eight patents. He received his M.S. and B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
