Motorola's TV Over xDSL Access Platform to Support Widevine Cypher(R) Content Security Solution

Posted on: Tuesday, 2 November 2004, 03:00 CST

SEATTLE, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Widevine Technologies(R), a leading provider of content security solutions to the video over xDSL and Fiber to the Home (FTTH) market, today announced an agreement to integrate the Widevine Cypher(R) technology with Motorola, Inc.'s Multi-Service Access Platform.

Deploying highly reliable and standards-based content security solutions is a vital step for telecommunications service providers looking to expand content redistribution agreements with studios and broadcasters. With the integration of Widevine's Patented Virtual SmartCard(TM) and Application Level encryption with the industry's leading platform for video over xDSL, providers can now leverage a complete and secure video delivery solution.

"Motorola's telecom video delivery platform offers service providers the flexibility to deliver video securely over any access architecture, and with today's announcement, we've added another choice for the protection of that content," said Tony Zona, vice president of marketing, Motorola telecom access solutions. "By working with companies like Widevine, Motorola enables customers to have a fully-integrated, end-to-end video delivery solution."

"The rapid acceptance in the global marketplace of Widevine's content security solution has been a strong validation of the absolute need to protect content and revenue streams in this age of digital piracy," said Brian Baker, President and CEO of Widevine Technologies. "We are extremely pleased and proud to have our content security solution integrated with Motorola's delivery platform and available to their telecom customers."

Widevine Cypher is built to meet the premium content owner's demands for security. The solution allows for transparent, persistent protection of media throughout its distribution. Further, Widevine's solution enables content to be securely stored on media servers of all types, and secure distribution that will not affect interactive functions.

The Motorola Multi-Service Access Platform offers dynamic, broadband delivery solutions in a wide range of configurations, and integrates easily into existing telephony and media services architecture. The platform currently delivers digital video to over 90% of today's North American installed base of TelcoTV services.
