AT&T Announces New Contract With John Muir Health

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., July 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. has announced a new optical networking services contract with John Muir Health. John Muir Health is a nationally recognized comprehensive health care provider with two medical centers, including a trauma center that serves Contra Costa and portions of Solano County, Calif. Under the terms of the five-year contract, AT&T will serve as the primary networking services provider, delivering AT&T OPT-E-MAN(R) service to connect one of John Muir's more remote locations to the main data center in Walnut Creek.
AT&T OPT-E-MAN service, a fully managed, switched Ethernet network service will provide secure and economical communications between John Muir Health's main campus and the remote facility. OPT-E-MAN service is also scalable and flexible in bandwidth from 10 Mbps to 1 Gbps, which is ideal for the ever- growing quantity of critical health care applications. Additionally, the redundant service will support doctors and health care practitioners from any location throughout the network.
By using a unified network platform, John Muir Health will be able to support multiple business applications, such as electronic medical records, as well as remote access to patient health information and medical images for radiology. The solution will provide reliable transport and enhanced security across the converged network and will enable John Muir's health care professionals to provide better patient care across the John Muir Health network of facilities.
