Jul. 11–After adopting a rogue kitten, 3-year-old Lillie has become quite the media dachshund. And now, the tale of Lillie and Tahoe, the kitten rescued by Lillie’s owners, has traveled around the national and even international media circuits. After a story ran in Sunday’s Advocate about the cuddly pair, the Associated Press picked up the story and as of Tuesday evening, the article had already appeared on the media Web sites of USA Today, ABC News, Forbes.com, Yahoo News, Philly.com, the International Herald Tribune and ChinaDaily.com.

In the article written by Advocate reporter Gabe Semenza, Tahoe was discovered in Eunice Collins’ vehicle and soon after was taken home.

“Tahoe was tiny, way too little to be away from home,” Collins said. “I took him in and kept him in my bedroom to keep him away from my other animals.”

One of those other animals was Lillie, their dachshund, who took it upon herself to adopt Tahoe, even going into false pregnancy so she could nurse the kitten.

“Lillie is a very loving longhaired dachshund. She has just taken Tahoe on as her baby, and has been nurturing and taking care of him. They’re just very close,” Collins said.
