Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Receives $1.0 Million Order for Satellite Infrastructure Equipment to Power Cellular Backhaul in the Middle East

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) announced today that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., received a $1.0 million order for satellite infrastructure equipment from a global system integrator. The equipment will be utilized in a cellular backhaul network in the Middle East.

Comtech EF Data's CDM-600L Satellite Modems and adjunct Redundancy Switches for both hub and remote sites were included in the order to ensure high service level availability. The CDM-600L is an open network satellite modem, operating at data rates of 2.4 kbps to 20 Mbps and supporting a range of interfaces. Its architecture is firmware and FPGA-based, and offers exceptional flexibility and performance. The CDM-600L Satellite Modems will use the drop and insert function tailored to cellular backhaul where transmitting/receiving fractional parts of T1 or E1 data streams is commonplace. The optional Turbo Product Coding forward error correction was also included in the order, which simultaneously offers increased coding gain, lower decoding delay, and significant bandwidth savings.
