Remend Featured in Microsoft Case Study on SaaS Innovation

Remend Inc., the first in on-demand mortgage servicing solutions, today announced that Microsoft has featured Remend OnDemand as a case study for software-as-a-service (SaaS) innovation based on Microsoft technology. Remend offers the first Web-based software for mortgage companies that integrates and streamlines all the steps in the mortgage servicing cycle. Delivered as a hosted service, Remend OnDemand can replace three or four existing software applications and consolidate multiple sources of data.
Remend OnDemand, which is built on a foundation of Microsoft .NET Framework technologies, provides the process automation, analytics and visibility that mortgage companies need to respond to customer needs and to stay competitive and profitable. Remend built its flagship workflow and decision management system on the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 developer tools. Remend OnDemand also takes advantage of Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and other Microsoft technologies in delivering its capabilities to customers.
Using Microsoft .NET Framework technologies, Remend was able to launch the first version of its comprehensive Remend OnDemand mortgage servicing suite in January 2007, taking just 12 months for development, and to deliver significant new functionality in its Spring 2007 release. The Remend system is scalable to meet virtually any level of customer demand, and with its SaaS multi-tenant architecture, software updates and customer specific configurations can be rolled out to thousands of customers simultaneously.
"Remend is a model for how companies can innovate and respond quickly to market opportunities by building their SaaS solutions on top of the proven Microsoft .NET platform," said Navdip Bhachech, director of the Emerging Business Team at Microsoft Corp. "By taking advantage of our Web services infrastructure, database, workflow technology, and reporting services, Remend was able to focus its development efforts on the specific business process needs of the mortgage industry and bring a much-needed product to market quickly."
"We needed an intuitive user interface, software that communicates via Web services and extensive real-time analysis and reporting capabilities that allow our customers to configure the business process," says Armando Hernandez, Remend's chief software architect. "Microsoft has been an invaluable industry partner in Remend's move to the .NET Framework 3.0-based SaaS platform. We're very excited about what we have achieved in our current release and the direction in which Microsoft is going with this architecture."
Remend hosts, manages and deploys the on-demand software for customers, providing continuous availability and monitoring through secure, fully redundant data centers. Users access the software via a Web browser and through secure portals for vendors, outsourcers and third-party providers. Multiple users can work together and collaborate on the same data in real time, which helps improve productivity and compliance as well as reduce costs. Customers pay for the service on a per-file or per-transaction basis. Remend OnDemand is configurable by business users at multiple layers of the application to support company-specific policies, processes, decision models and data fields.
