TeamQuest Corporation Announces TeamQuest Performance Software Version 9.2

Posted on: Wednesday, 3 November 2004, 09:00 CST

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TeamQuest Corporation, a global leader in performance management and capacity planning solutions, today announced immediate availability of its newest release TeamQuest Performance Software 9.2. The release places TeamQuest among the first capacity planning and performance management software providers to deliver solutions for IBM eServer pSeries, zSeries and iSeries server platforms. In addition to IBM z/OS, OS/400 and i5/OS support, significant enhancements in TeamQuest Performance Software 9.2 include agents for VMware ESX server and network device, network applications and WebLogic. The network application agents provide end-to-end performance monitoring without installing client agents.

"TeamQuest Performance Software 9.2 provides our customers even more value by helping them meet the critical need of monitoring all the components in the data center, plus adds the ability to monitor end-to-end performance," said Mike Ellis, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at TeamQuest Corporation. "IT organizations seeking to maximize performance and availability require solutions that can manage and monitor all components while providing professionals with the ability to quickly detect deviation from normal and locate the components of interest. TeamQuest 9.2 helps organizations to reduce risk by providing the information data center managers need to consistently deliver services."

TeamQuest Performance Software 9.2 includes:

-- Support for IBM pSeries, z/OS, OS/400, and i5/OS Systems

-- Network Application and Device Monitoring

-- Support for VMware ESX Servers

-- Support for WebLogic Application Servers

-- Support for DB2 UDB and WebSphere Agents on Microsoft Windows Systems

Two of the first test sites utilizing TeamQuest Performance Software 9.2 are Versitech Ltd. in Hong Kong and Sun Microsystems GmbH Germany, who has implemented TeamQuest 9.2 at Vodafone.

"We are impressed with TeamQuest Performance Software 9.2 which includes the WebLogic agent. It provides intuitive analysis of the WebLogic servers that we utilize to run performance tests for our client. Also, when combined with the SQL Server statistics, we monitor, analyze, and identify the cause of performance problems in any part of the system," said Parker Cheung, IT Consultant, Versitech.

"The new network features in TeamQuest Performance Software 9.2 are big steps," said Axel Jorns, Product Engineer, Sun Microsystems GmbH. "Customers save time and money by using TeamQuest software because it works without daily support and the system can be checked during the collection period with TeamQuest View or TeamQuest Model. The addition of centralized administration further empowers the customer with the solutions they require to remain competitive."

Capacity and performance management has become a critical IT discipline as organizations work to contain costs, maximize existing infrastructures, and avoid problems by utilizing proactive solutions. By understanding performance information acquired using TeamQuest Performance Software 9.2, IT professionals can optimize existing hardware and software, reallocate system resources to meet changing business demands, and accurately plan for future system requirements.

"The return on investment of performance and capacity planning is essentially a comparison of the potential benefits for the business users (effectiveness: by providing a constant and optimum level of service required for business productivity) and the enterprise bottom line (efficiency: by optimizing the provisioning of resources required to maintain this optimum service level) against the costs of implementing a performance management and capacity planning process and the acquisition of tools to support it." From "Performance and Capacity Planning are Two Sides of the Same Coin", Jean-Pierre Garbani, Vice President, Research Director, Forrester Research.
