Neural Recordings in Actively Flying Fruit Flies

February 15, 2010

Researchers used a puff of air to spur tethered fruit flies into flapping their wings, while electrodes measured the activity of neurons in the flies’ visual system and high-speed digital cameras simultaneously recorded the flies’ behavior. Credit: Gaby Maimon and Michael Dickinson/Caltech
