Birth of a Planet
September 4, 2012
Over the past few decades, the hunt for extrasolar planets – planets outside our own solar system – has yielded incredible discoveries. And now planetary researchers have a new tool: simulated models of how planets are born.
Sally Dodson-Robinson of The University of Texas at Austin utilizes advanced simulations to further research into this field, and has worked with the Texas Advanced Computing Center to create three dimensional models.
