Testing Orion’s Abort Motor – Close Up

NASA and its industry partners tested the Orion spacecraft abort motor on 11/20/08. The abort system will pull Orion and the astronauts off of the Ares rocket in the event of a mishap. The test took place in Promontory, Utah. credit: NASA
