The Delta Mission as told by Andr̩ Kuipers. Part I РTraning in Star City

Star City lies just outside Moscow. It’s the training centre for the cosmonauts. André Kuipers, first engineer for the Delta mission, tells how astronauts train at Star City. “˜’ We have to train every day. There are theoretical subjects but we also learn other things, such as languages. Russian is important because everything is done in Russian. When we are in the Soyuz we have to be able to understand the commander and the ground staff”. Astronauts learn to cope with space suit and with zero gravity. They even learn how to launch and to land and eventually they get to do a manual flight inside the centrifuge.
