Agnosphitys, meaning “unknown begetter”, is a genus of dinosaur from the Norian and Rhaetian ages of the Late Triassic Period. The only species known is A. cromhallensis. It was described in 2002 by Fraser, Padian, Walkden and Davis. A partial skeleton was found in Avon, England. It is sometimes mistakenly called Agnostiphys.
Agnosphitys may not be an actual genus of dinosaur. It lies very close to the ancestry of dinosaurs, but researchers are not sure exactly where this animal should be placed. It is either considered to be a saurischian dinosaur linked to the beginnings of dinosaur evolution or a dinosauromorph.
