Animal Biology

Animal Biology is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Brill Publishers and is the official journal of the Royal Dutch Zoological Society. It was established in 1872 as the Archives NĂ©erlandaises de Zoologie and renamed Netherlands Journal of Zoology in 1952. It was changed to its current name in 2003. As of May 2012, the editor-in-chief is J.M. Koene (VU University, Amsterdam, The Netherlands).

Animal Biology publishes high quality papers and focuses on integration of the various disciplines within the broad field of zoology. These disciplines include behavior, developmental biology, ecology, endocrinology, evolutionary biology, genomics, morphology, neurobiology, physiology, systematics and theoretical biology.

This journal is indexed in the following databases: BIOSIS, CABS, Current Contents/Agriculture, Biology and Environmental Sciences, FISHLIT, GeoAbstracts, Science Citation Index, and Scopus.
