Applied Physics A

Applied Physics A: Materials Science and Processing is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published monthly by Springer. This journal is complemented by Applied Physics B: Laser & Optics. As of May 2012, the editor-in-chief of Applied Physics A is Michael Stuke (Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry).

The journal focuses on theoretical and experimental studies in applied physics. Topics covered include surfaces, thin films, the condensed phase of materials, nanostructured materials, application of nanotechnology, and techniques pertaining to advanced processing and characterization. Other topics covered include characterizing materials, evaluating materials, nanotechnology, optical & electronic materials, production engineering, process engineering, interfaces (surfaces & thin films), corrosion, and finally coatings.

The journal is published in the following formats: original research, reviews and rapid communications. Invited papers are also included on a regular basis and collected in special issues.
