Braque du Bourbonnais
The Braque du Bourbonnais is a French gun dog with a ticked liver or fawn coat and a short tail. It thrived during the Renaissance and after WWI. A breed club was established in 1925 but that did not keep the dog from practically becoming extinct for a decade in the mid 1900s.
In 1970 a man by the name of Michel Comte decided to bring back the Braque du Bourbonnais by using mixed breed dogs with similar characteristics and inbreeding litters.
In 1981 the Club du Braque du Bourbonnais was recreated with Michel Comte as president, allowing the breed to further thrive.
