Computational Materials Science

Computational Materials Science is a peer-reviewed scientific journal established in 1992 and published monthly by Elsevier. As of May 2012, the editors-in-chief are H. Dreysse and S. Schmauder.

The journal focuses on existing and new advanced materials and their applications. Coverage encompasses experimental research, in connection with computational modeling of materials properties and materials phenomena. Article topics also discuss synthesis, materials characterization, materials processing, structures and devices. Related subject coverage for this journal is materials data processing, materials computer simulation, and materials science.

Invited contributions are gathered from quantum, classical and statistical mechanical studies. Topic coverage of invited contributions include tight binding method, embedded atom method, density functional theory, and simulations at applicable scales. Other topics in this area include properties of materials. Types of materials include metals, alloys, semiconductors, insulators, superconductors, biomaterials, polymers, ceramics and composites in liquid, crystal, amorphous and cluster-like states.

The journal is indexed in the following databases: Aluminium Industry Abstracts, Chemical Abstracts Service – CASSI, Current Contents/Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences, Compendex, Engineering Index, Inspec, Materials Science Citation Index, Metals Abstracts, Research Alert, Science Citation Index, Scirus, and Scopus.
