Jaunty Dropwing, Trithemis stictica

The jaunty dropwing (Trithemis stictica) is a species of dragonfly that can be found in Africa. Its range includes Angola, Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zambia, among other areas. It prefers to reside in tropical or subtropical habitats like moist and arid savannahs, forests, and shrublands. It is typically seen near marshes, swamps, and rivers. The population size of this species is unknown and it is threatened by habitat loss due to drainage and agricultural practices. Research and observation of this species is recommended. The jaunty dropwing appears on the IUCN Red List with a conservation status of “Least Concern.”
