Large Münsterländer

The Large Münsterländer is a German gun dog breed which was first recognized in the early 1800s. Prior to that, the breed was recognized as only a German Longhaired Pointer color variant. The breed was first introduced in the United States in 1966 and has slowly been gaining popularity.

The Large Münsterländer stands 23 to 26 inches tall and should weigh around 66 pounds. It is a muscular breed which is very proportional. It has a firm, dense, medium-length coat which is black and white.
The breed is gentle and calm as well as devoted and intelligent. It is caring toward children as well as a more than competent hunter. It works very close to its handler and is very responsive to commands.
