Pillar Coral

Pillar Coral, (Dendrogyra cylindricus), is a species of hard coral found in the western Atlantic Ocean. This coral is made up of finger-like projections, growing up from the sea-floor. The pillars can grow up to 8 feet tall, growing on both flat and sloping sea floors at a depth up to 65 feet below sea level. Its polyps generally feed during the day, one of the few types of hard coral to do so.
