Randrianasolo’s Sportive Lemur, Lepilemur randrianasoloi

Randrianasolo’s sportive lemur (Lepilemur randrianasoloi) is also known as Bemaraha sportive lemur, and is native to western areas of Madagascar. The full extent of its range is not yet known, because this species is one of fifteen described in 2006, so more research is needed to define the boundaries of its range. It occurs in dry deciduous forests.

Randrianasolo’s sportive lemur can reach an average body length of up to 1.8 feet, including the tail. Because this lemur has only recently been described, its population trends, habits as a species, and main threats are not yet known. However, it is thought that it occurs within the protected borders of Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve and Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park. Randrianasolo’s sportive lemur appears on the IUCN Red List with a conservation status of “Data Deficient”.
