The Russian Blue

The Russian Blue is a medium sized cat with a short, plush, bluish-grey coat. The color is a dilute expression of the black gene. The coat is a double coat unique to the breed with tipped guard hairs that give the coat a shimmering appearance. The Russian Blue almost always has green eyes, but sometimes they can be yellow. These are playful, yet shy cats that develop bonds with their owners. The breed is believed to have originated in Russia, thus the name. They have been used in limited form to create other breeds, but themselves remain bluish-gray shorthaired cats.
