Variegated Squirrel, Sciurus variegatoides

The variegated squirrel (Sciurus variegatoides) is native to many regions, including Honduras, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, El Salvador, and Guatemala. It is one of over a hundred species of tree squirrel, and it can vary in color from whites to red, depending on the subspecies. It holds at least fourteen subspecies. The variegated squirrel appears on the IUCN Red List with a conservation status of “Least Concern”.
