Western Green Mamba
The Western Green Mamba, Dendroaspis viridis, also called the West
African green mamba, is a venomous snake native to West Africa, including Liberia and CÃ´te d’Ivoire. Its habitat is rainforest.
This snake grows to a length of 6.5 feet and is thin. It has large green scales outlined in black. The scales on its long tail are yellow and edged in black. It is mostly diurnal, but may be active at night as well. Its natural prey includes birds, lizards, and mammals. Two close relatives of the Western green mamba are the Eastern green mamba, and the Black mamba.
