Colombian-born actor Lillo Brancato, who is in prison for attempted burglary, says he is ashamed of himself for squandering his opportunities. Brancato, 32, was sentenced last month to 10 years in prison for an attempted burglary that ended with the death of a New York City police officer in 2005. It just came so easily for me, Brancato told ABC's 20/20 about his past successes in an interview airing Friday night. The admitted drug addict recalled in the interview how his A Bronx Tale co-star Robert De Niro warned him years ago about the pitfalls of fame, The New York Post said. He said, 'A lot of people are going to want to be your friends, you know, and they don't have your best interest at heart,' Brancato said in the interview from the Rikers Island prison.

The sister of slain New York Police Officer Daniel Enchautegui says she is disappointed actor Lillo Brancato was acquitted of killing him. Brancato, an admitted drug addict best known for his roles in the film A Bronx Tale and on HBO's The Sopranos, was accused of attempting to break into a Bronx home and catching the attention of the off-duty police officer next door who was shot by Brancato's friend -- now serving life in prison without the chance of parole -- when Enchautegui went to investigate. The actor was charged with felony murder, burglary and attempted burglary because he allegedly helped set off the chain of events that resulted in the officer's death. A Bronx jury Monday acquitted him of all charges except for attempted burglary. I'm disappointed.

A New York judge ordered the jury that heard actor Lillo Brancato's murder trial to continue deliberating Friday, even though it said it was deadlocked. Brancato, an admitted drug addict who is known for his roles in the film A Bronx Tale and on the TV series The Sopranos, is accused of attempting to break into a Bronx home, catching the attention of an off-duty police officer next door who came out of his home to investigate and was shot by Brancato's friend, who is now serving life in prison without the chance of parole. Brancato testified during his own trial that he was high the night of the 2005 shooting and merely trying to let himself into his drug dealer's house as he had done in the past.

Lillo Brancato, an actor being tried for murder, says he was trying to let himself into his drug dealer's home when his friend shot a New York police officer. I was knocking on every door and every window to get this guy's attention. I knew he was in there.
